Rules and Regulations

The tournament itself is set up in a "Ryder Cup" format consisting of three rounds of golf at three different courses. The first two rounds are team match play. Each match is worth two points. In a match resulting in a push, both teams receive one point. The third and final round is individual match play. This is a head to head competition with the round being worth one point per match. A half point will be awarded to each member if the match is halved. The team finishing with the most points at the end of the third round is declared the winner. If both teams accrue the same number of points, the Donny Cup is retained by the previous winner. At tournaments end each team captain will appoint his successor.

The team captain's responsibilities are to create the pairings for the first two rounds of the tournament. The captain of the current champions must present his teams line up to the captain of the challenging team at least one hour before tee off. Once the line up has been turned in, the challenging team captain is responsible for creating the match ups the best he sees fit. The team that is ahead in points after the first round must turn in the line up to be matched by the team with fewer points. This determines the match ups for the second round.

The match ups for the third round will be determined by the following ranking system. A players overall score (in strokes) for the first two rounds will determine their placement in the third round. The player with the lowest stroke total from both teams will receive a number one seed. This type of ranking will continue down the line until every player has received a rank. For the final head to head round, players with the same ranking from each team will play one another. ( Incase a player has the same stroke total as another player on his team, which would prevent the ranking system from taking place, the following will happen…) The player whose pairings contributed more overall points to the team will be considered the higher seed. If there is still no break to the tie, a simple coin flip by the team captain will determine the ranking. In case a coin cannot be found, the winner of a best out of seven, Rock, Paper, Scissors match is the victor.

Once on the course all standard rules of golf apply. You must play it as it lies unless given relief by a player of the opposite team. A player must putt out unless the putt or the hole is conceded by the other team. Standard "Dick Out" rules apply. All score cards must be presented to the tournament coordinator at the end of each round for totaling. Gambling is encouraged but not required. Such things as "longest drive" or "closest to the pin" competition can be determined by each individual match up unless already set by the tournament coordinator.

I would now like to thank all the members, past, present and future, for allowing this tournament to become such a success. Fair, honest, naked play is the mark of great tournament members. I wish both teams the best of luck in the upcoming events.
